About the department: The subject was introduced in the year 2009. Initially it was started as an add-on course i.e. Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma course. After the popularity of this subject now it became a fully fledged subject of Graduation level.

Presently the department is headed by Prof.Navendu Bansal .

Vision: To provide quality media education to the students of Journalism and Mass Communication in order to build good human communication in the rapid changing society from traditional to digital.

Mission: The department is devoted to create awareness within students about freedom of expressions, human rights, value education, media ethics etc.

Objective: The main objectives of the Department of J&MC are-

  1.  To provide a broad understanding of the role of communication and Mass Media in society.
  2.  To provide an understanding of the role and responsibilities of a journalist in society.
  3. To prepare students for careers in different fields of Journalism.
  4. To provide an intellectual climate for students to think critically about issues related to mass media.
