ABOUT

Music Department of Govt. College Bilaspur has Located in Front of the New Building of College. Purely separated from the other classrooms provides a batter space to music practitioners for their rehearsals of songs and Raags etc. It has a two-story building including a green garden type yard for the better feeling of Music students. In the ground floor there are music classrooms labs and faculty rooms and in the first floor there is a Multipurpose Hall which is useful for the practice of dance, play, skit, mime and also for the performance of all musical events. 

In our department we offer Batcheler degree in Music Vocal and Instrumental. Beside the regular classes we also teach the folk traditions of our District Bilaspur and our State Himachal Pradesh to the Students of music and all other students of the college who desired to learn music and folk Music of the region. 

 

VISION 

The students who opt Music are not belongs to music background as in our district Music is not teaching as a subject in most of the school. So our first vision is to provide the basic knowledge of music to the students so they can be familiar with the fundamental musical terms and musical instruments. 

Secondly, we focus on the all over grooming of the students in the field of music so they can be able to perform in various competitions, stage performances and studio recordings etc.  
 

MISSION

Music is a performing art, it provides a vast area of employment, job opportunity and success in the life. Our mission is to educate all the students in the way that they can be able to sing songs, play musical instrument, perform on stage. We also prepare the students to compose new song, take part in singing, dancing and acting competitions.

 In spite of that, we teach theory of Indian classical music, Karnataka or south Indian Music, western Music in the theory classes as per their syllabus and as per the requirement of preparation for competitive exams and entrance tests for further studies. 

Our mission is to provide basic to advance level music knowledge to the students.

Our Mission is to prepare them for all types of stage performances, competitions and competitive exams in the field of music.

 

OBJECTIVES

Students will be effective performers.

Students will demonstrate proficiency on their principle applied medium. Students will demonstrate proficiency in reading music notation. Students will demonstrate fundamental proficiency in Indian taal concept. Students will demonstrate fundamental proficiency in vocal skills.

Students will achieve musical literacy. Students will demonstrate knowledge of musical styles, forms, processes, and their cultural context. Students will demonstrate proficient analytical listening skills. Students will apply knowledge of musical concepts by creating music.

Students will demonstrate musical literacy in original composition and/or improvisation.

4 PROGRAMM OUTCOME

After the completion of three-year degree program, a student will be able to demonstrate the classical music term khayal gaayaki, able to know the fundamental elements of music able to recognised the taal used in classical music and contemporary music forms like film music of Bollywood. 

After this program student will be able to play songs on harmonium and also able to identify the raag and taal used in a particular song.

MUSA 101 – this course is a music theory-based course which provides basic knowledge of music theory 

After studying this course student will be able to know the basic terms and definitions of music.

 MUSA 102 this is a practical course after the completion of this course student learn the basic rules of classical singing and raag gaayan.
