About

The Department faculty members have specializations in different areas of Physics. The Department places great emphasis on research along with teaching. The faculty members have numerous research papers and articles in renowned journals to their credit. The students are also provided with ample opportunities and exposure to real-time research through projects. The Department has three well-maintained laboratories which are upgraded every year with the latest equipments. In addition, the Department has one computer lab, two dark rooms in which the students can carry out their project work, play around with the concepts of Physics, give shape to their innovative ideas and exhibit their creative skills. Smart classroom is available for efficient teaching. The faculty of the department has also been contributing immensely to the corporate life of the College; many of them being actively involved in the Administrative work of the Institution. The students of the department have also made their mark in the social life of the college with active contributions and leading positions in various college societies, and functions being organized from time to time. In addition to the teaching of B.Sc. Physics course, the Department has the responsibility of running the M.Sc. Physics course. The Department also organizes workshops, and various lab activities. The students may also supplement their learning and gain hands-on experience in emerging fields by opting for various skill courses floated by the Department. Our students have consistently performed well in the University examinations. They have been enrolled for higher education in top universities/institutions. The alumni of the Department have carved their niche in various professional areas like Civil Services, Defence Services, management, R & D's, etc. The Department provides a conducive environment for wholesome growth with inclusivity to all members and looks forward to keeping the legacy alive and thriving.

Vision

To build a foundation for excellence and encourage the development of the Institution as a premier Institution by igniting and promoting enthusiasm, interests and passion, in the study of physics, in professional courses, as a part of curriculum.

Mission

To prepare students with good moral, ethical, and national-minded with strong knowledge in the field of Science and Physics Applications to produce competitive graduates.

  • To conduct innovative research in the field of physics and disseminate the results at national and international levels.
  • To be actively involved in the community problem solving by utilizing physics in developing science and technology.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) The PEOs of Physics Department are compatible with the vision and mission of the institute and are as following: M.Sc. Physics:

  • ♦ To impart quality education in physics to students so as they become globally competitive physicist.
  • ♦ To make the students to accept the challenges in physics
  • ♦ Effectively disseminate the physics knowledge to coming generations.
  • ♦ To create strong interest in physics so as students can further develop themselves through selfstudy.
  • ♦ To create a sense of ethical responsibilities among students.
  • ♦ Improve the student’s skills (professional, communication, transferable skills). B.Sc. Physics:
  • • To produce graduates who excel in the competencies and values required for leadership to serve a rapidly evolving global community.
  • • To motivate the students to pursue PG courses in reputed institutes.
  • • To kindle the interest for research in students.
  • • To endow the students with creative and analytical skills; this will equip them to become entrepreneurs.
