Government collegeBilaspur is situated at the bottom of the beautiful Bandla Hills. It is about half kilometer from the bank of beautifulGovindSagar Lake. National Cadets Corps is a voluntary organization and is fully controlled by the Ministry of Defence. The Defence Secretary is overall in charge, who is responsible to the Government of India for the functioning of the NCC and its related matters. NCC cadets wear the extra responsibilities unlike his fellow classmates who are not members of NCC. Their responsibilities are nowhere written but obligatory as an outcome of their training. They are the most disciplined stuff of the institution. They fulfills the main aims of NCC i.e. becoming potential leader with character qualities and responsible citizen. They have extra responsibilities to their NCC unit, organisation, their institution, society at large and to the county which inculcate active participation in social awareness initiatives, environmental issues, disaster relief, adventure and sports activities and other nation building efforts. It doesn't end with their NCC training at institution, but has to be carried forward to where they are going to be engaged in the future also. At present in G.C. Bilaspur Army wing (SD) have 50 authorised vacancies in which 33% are reserved for girls.An additional 17 vacancies are allotted to institution in year 2021 specially for border area students. NCC Army wing is associated with 2HP Bn NCC Mandi.

Brief history, Aims and organization of NCC
National Cadets Corps (NCC)
1. Brief History of NCC The present day NCC came into existence on 16 Apr 1948, through XXXI Act of Parliament. NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948, as soon as the schools and colleges reopened after summer vacation. The Girls Division of the NCC was raised in July 1949. On 01 April 1950, Air Wing was raised, with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata. The Naval Wing of the NCC was raised in July 1952, thus completing the true representation of all services in the Corps. Today the NCC has more than 13 Lakh strength. National Cadets Corps (NCC) day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in the month of November. NCC stands strong with its Motto of “Unity and Discipline” The three colours in the NCC flag depict the three services of the Corps, red for the Army, deep blue for the Navy and light blue for the Air Force. The letters NCC and the NCC crest in gold in the middle of the flag encircled by a wreath of lotus, give the flag a colourful look and a distinct identity.
2. AIMS OF NCC The aims of NCC are mainly in three folds:-
(a) To develop following qualities in the cadets :(i) Development of Character. (ii) Comradeship. (iii) Discipline. (iv) Secular Outlook. (v) Spirit of Adventure. (vi) Sportsmanship. (vii) Ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
(b) To create a human resource of Organized, Trained and Motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
(c) To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.
3. ORGANIZATION • At the Headquarters level, this organization is headed by an officer of the rank of Lieutenant General who is responsible for the functioning of the NCC in the country and is called as DG NCC.
• There are 17 Directorates located in the state capitals headed by an officer of the rank of a Major General / Brigadier or equivalent from the three Services called as ADG. Depending upon the size of the state and growth of NCC in the states, Directorates have up to 14 Group Headquarters under them through which they exercise their command and control of the organisation in the state. Each group is headed by an officer of the rank of Brig / Colonel or equivalent known as Group Commander.
• Each NCC Group Headquarters controls 5-7 NCC units / battalions, commanded by Colonel / Lieutenant Colonel or equivalent. Each battalion consists of companies which are commanded by the Associate NCC Officers (ANO) of the rank of Lieutenant, Captain or Major. In all, there are 95 Group Headquarters in the country who exercise control over a network of 667 Army Wing Units (including technical and girls unit), 60 Naval Wing Units and 61 Air Squadrons.
• There are two training establishments namely Officers Training School, Kamptee and Women Officers Training School, Gwalior where professors and teachers from colleges and schools are specially trained to impart training to the cadets as Associate NCC Officers (ANOs).

Training activities of NCC broadly classified as under:-
Types of Camps.
1. Annual Training Camps (ATC). These are held within the state under the aegis of respective NCC Directorates and are of 12 days duration for senior boys / girls
2. Centrally Organised Camps (COC). These are of an all India nature and are planned by HQ DGNCC in consultation with the Directorates nominated to conduct them.

4.CADET COMMANDMENTS
1. I will ensure construction of toilet in my house and motivate at least 10 persons for the same.
2. I will be an 'Aadhar' Indian and would motivate 10 more persons to be one.
3. I will donate blood at least once every year.
4. I will make only digital transactions wherever possible and motivate others for the same.
5. I will plant minimum two trees in a year and care for the same.
6. I will obtain my voter and PAN Card once I have crossed 18 years of age.
7. I will ensure garbage segregation in my house and within 100 m of my neighbourhood.
8. I will undertake 100 hours of shramdaan for social service.
9. I will help physically-challenged persons to live their dreams.
10. I will be a role model for gender sensitivity. secular outlook and spirit of nationalism without any regional bias.
11. I will rush to help any accident victim.
12. I will always uphold motto of NCC - 'Unity and Discipline'. I will be equally disciplined when not under observation.

Benefits of NCC
1. Concession in Employment
a. For C‘ Certificate Holders. Specific vacancies in the Army, Airforce and Navy are reserved for NCC ‘C’ certificate holders. For officers there is no UPSC written exams. After application, the cadet is called directly for SSB interview, which he has to clear before final selection as per the merit list. The following vacancies are reserved by each service as officers :-
b. 5-10% bonus marks for recruitment in ranks in Army, Navy and Air force.
c. Bonus marks for employment in Para Military Forces and Department of Telecommunication.
d. Can apply for gazetted post in CRPF if third division degree held by the cadet.
e. Preference in State Services and also in private sectors.
f. Employment within NCC as Whole Time Lady Officer, Girl Cadet Instructor, Aero and Ship Modeling Instructor. Financial Assistance / Scholarships
2. Financial assistance and relief to cadets is provided by Cadet Welfare Society (CWS) in case of any injury to the cadet or to the NOK, in case of any fatality during NCC related activities. a. Details of the financial assistance are:-

High Risk 4,00,000/- upto 4,00,000/- upto 1,75,000/-
Other Activities 3,50,000/- upto 3,50,000/- upto 1,75,000/- Other benefits provided by the CWS are:-
(a) Scholarship to academically brilliant students.
b. Grant of Best Cadet Award of Rs 3500/- and 2nd Best Cadet Award of Rs 2500/- at each Group level. c. Conduct sports and adventure activities.
3. Scholarships.
a. Cadets Welfare Society (CWS). CWS awards scholarship of Rs 6000/- per cadet for 1000 NCC cadets every year.
b. Sahara Scholarship. Sahara gives Rs 30,000/- for Professional and Other categories and Rs 12000/- for SD/SW
Eligibility criteria for enrolling in NCC
BEE Certificate
The time period for NCC BEE certificate is 2 years from the last 2 years. Eligibility criteria for the NCC BEE certificate:
1. The candidate should complete their primary education.
2. Candidate should not be convicted in any of the police cases.
3. Candidate should not be married.
4. You have to fill the application and submit it.
5. Must have attended one Annual Training Camp /NIC /COC / RDC / Attachment with Regular Army/Navy/Air Force.
6. The examination pattern is: a) written exam b) drill test c) practical & viva If you qualify in all the exam then you will get a BEE Certificate.
7. Cadets possessing Certificate A will be awarded 10 bonus marks.
CEE Certificate Eligibility criteria for the NCC CEE certificate:
1. The cadet must be in possession of Certificate BEE.
2. The cadet must be in third year of Senior Division/Senior Wing NCC Training.
3. The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of the periods of 3rdyear syllabus during the academic session.
4. Break in the NCC Training Tenure of the cadet SD/SW prior to appearing in the Exam should not exceed more than 18 months at one time after his discharge to count his previous tenure for Certificate C examination.
5. In case the break exceeds 18 months the following procedure will be adopted:- a) If he had been on the unit rolls for a minimum of two years before his discharge and attended 75% of the total period during his NCC Tenure he will need another 30 periods of training to become eligible for certificate CEE examination. b) In other cases where above conditions are not fulfilled, the cadet must attend a minimum of 75% periods of the third year of training.
6. Must have attended one ATC and in addition one of the following in a three year tenure:- a. Annual Training Camp (This is in addition to one mentioned above). b. Republic Day Camp at Delhi (RDC). c. Centrally Organized Camp (COC). Ordered by HQ DGNCC Para Training Camp (PTC). d. Para Training Camp (PTC). e. National Integration Camp (NIC)/(EBSB) (When applicable for SD/ SW Cadets). f. All India Trekking Expedition (HQ DGNCC Organized). g. All India Mountaineering Expedition (HQ DGNCC Organized). h. Attachment Training with any one of the following:- ∙ Army Unit. ∙Air Force Station.∙Naval Base/ Establishment/ Ship/ Sea Training.∙Service Hospital. i. Any one of the following Adventure Courses:-∙ Mountaineering Basic Course. ∙ Mountaineering Advance Course..Youth Exchange Programe.
