The Literary Club
The Literary Club was formed in the session 2023-24 with the objectives and functions aimed
at fostering a deep appreciation for literature, nurturing creative expression, and building a
vibrant community of literary enthusiasts. The Club looks forward for:
1. Promoting Literary Appreciation: The primary objective of the Literary Club is to foster a
love for literature among its members.
2. Encouraging Creative Expression: The Literary Club aim to provide a platform for
members to express themselves creatively through writing, poetry, storytelling, or other
forms of artistic expression.
3. Enhancing Communication Skills: By participating in discussions, debates, and public
speaking events related to literature, members can improve their communication skills,
including critical thinking, articulation, and persuasive abilities.
4. Building a Sense of Community: The Literary Club offers a space where individuals with a
shared interest in literature can come together to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and
form meaningful connections.
5. Organizing Literary Events: The Literary Club will arrange various events such as book
readings, author talks, poetry slams, writing workshops, and also seminars and conferences to
engage members and the wider community.
Activities in the session 2023-24
1. A Play titled “Tamasha” based on a short story of the same name written by the
acclaimed writer, Sadaat Hasan Manto was staged in the historical Gaiety Theatre,
Shimla during Winter Carnival w.e.f. 29 th -31 st December, 2023.
2. A Short Story Writing Workshop cum Competition was organised in the institution on
March 2 nd , 2024.
