The nation has framed the National Education Policy and the Government of Himachal Pradesh has adopted this policy. We in our institution, are doing our best to make the necessary arrangements to adopt NEP. Being an affiliated college of HPU, the syllabi are being prepared by the Himachal Pradesh University. NEP-2020 carries the promise of a holistic educational paradigm. It wants to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical application.
The Himachal Pradesh University is framing the curriculum as per provisions of NEP-2020 and UGC guidelines for effective implementation of the Policy from the academic session 2025-26. A few special lectures and workshops were organized at Govt. College Bilaspur.
Efforts are also being made to include everyone in education. The Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) proposed by the NEP is where higher education institutions will digitally deposit credits earned by students for the course they studied. Students can opt for a three-year honours programme, a four-year honours programme, or a four-year honours programme with research. They can also exit/enter at any level with appropriate certification. The ABC is expected to aid the multiple entries and exit system as well as be multidisciplinary in higher education.
The policy presents a modern, future-oriented objective aimed at revolutionizing India’s higher education system, focusing especially on essential key elements such as :
• Offering a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education, ensuring a conducive learning atmosphere and ample support for all students.
• Establishing a fair and inclusive educational atmosphere for every student.
• Creating a versatile educational infrastructure that caters to the unique needs, ambitions, and interests of every student, ensuring it is universally accessible.
• Enhancing the caliber of universities and colleges.
• Encourages multilingualism as a pedagogical asset.
• Promoting vocational education.
• Fostering superior academic research via the National Research Foundation (NRF).
• Overhauling the regulatory framework and governance of higher education and enhancing the leadership of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India.
• To start new vocational courses for providing skill-based education for students
To streamline the implementation of the NEP, including the specific provisions of the NEP -2020 such as ABC, a dedicated committee has been established at the college level. This committee is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the integration of the NEP guidelines into our academic programs, ensuring a smooth transition and effective implementation. Our college is fully committed to embracing the changes.
brought forth by the NEP 2020 and is actively taking steps to inform and engage students, promote online learning, and coordinate the successful implementation of the policy.
