Public Administration as an independent subject of social science has a recent origin in 1887. It is a most progressive and upcoming Stream of social science that studies system of Governance. Today welfare state role of public administration has become very important. It is the basis of Government; an agency for the implementation of government policies and programme of the nation and thereby plays a very important role change in the society. The success of government largely depends of the ability of public administration perform and deliver. The literary meaning of public administration is ‘to serve people’ and ‘to manage the affairs in a state for the growth and welfare. Today, the nature of public administration has changed from traditional administration into digital form that is called as E-Governance. Therefore, the mode of service delivery is changed from desk system to door service delivery system.
The Department of Public Administration was set up in the year 2021 in Govt post graduate College Bilaspur. The department has regular full-time course of Bachelor of Arts in public administration is multidisciplinary in nature. The syllabus of B.A course core and optional paper provide students practical skill of administration and effective management of the organization. The department organizes various co-curricular and Extra-curricular activities for the overall development of the students by giving assignments, taking presentation, Groups discussion; quiz competition, poster making and special lecture in current issues. Department also celebrated the important days such as Civil Service Day, Environment Day and Human Right Day in every year. I welcome you all to the department to fulfill your academic thrust with a motto of come to learn and go to serve.
Vision
The vision of department is to develop leadership, organizational and decision- making skills ability of the students and provides knowledge of the system of administration. The department has focus on prepares students to social challenges, emerging issues and better governance or develop interest into promote their study for higher education in public administration.
